Un thread interesante y oportuno

Cosas que compartimos con mis compañeritos del cole. Después de 30 años de egresados nos mantenemos en contacto por mail, estamos todos muy repartidos por el mundo. Y los que viven (o están de paso) en Buenos Aires, se juntan a cenar una vez al mes.

The dollar should never depreciate or appreciate. It should be stable in value. It should be fixed in value. Say a foot has twelve inches; you don’t change that each day, appreciate it or depreciate it. It’s a fixed measure. Same thing with an hour; sixty minutes in an hour, it’s fixed. You don’t change the number of minutes in an hour each day. The dollar should have a fixed, basic value. Gold, for all its imperfections, is like a Polaris. It’s the best thing we have out there. Experience shows that. Keep the dollar stable in value and then you can focus your energies on more productive things like innovating, starting a business, building a house or buying a house, being responsible, moving ahead in life.

If you don’t have a currency that is fixed and has a fixed measure of value, then the temptation always is to, as they said in times of old, clip the coins, reduce the content. Politicians love to spend and they hate the idea that there’s any discipline out there. So without discipline, guess what happens? You get inflation, you get chaos, and you undermine it. Lenin said the best way to undermine a society is to debauch the currency because not one in a million people understand what is happening. Inflation is great for those who want terrorism, for those who want totalitarianism, for those who want chaos. That kind of chaos is the enemy of freedom. Stability is the friend of freedom; chaos is the enemy.

Sabias palabras las de Don G.,

…pero si podemos aseverar, que en donde no se permite que las fuerzas del Mercado y el Capitalismo hagan su labor, libremente y sin intervencionismo demagógico del Estado (léase Estalinismo, Chavismo o Kirschnerismo), nunca podremos gozar de sus ventajas. Estamos destinados a vivir en la cloaca (la mayoría, se entiende). No se como se dota uno para esa habilidad aparte de taparse bien las fosas nasales.

PS: La Argentina acaba de ser downgraded de “Emerging” a “Frontier”, o sea “culismundo”.

Pero mis queridos chiquitines, me llena de orgullo leer vuestras inmensas palabras. Motivan acaso mi salida del patético ostracismo al que el trajín de la realidad cotidiana nos tiene inmerso en estos últimos meses.

Valoro inmensamente el comentario que nos compartió Don Pe.A. y la sin igual contribución del cada dia mas activo Don Pa.C.

Solo decirles mi humilde opinión. Es fundamental la participación, no comulgo con lo dicho con F.G. Aunque quizás no sea por nosotros, seguramente por nuestros hijos. Ellos podrían ver el impacto que generaría nuestra participación aun en el mas interminable océano del argento estiercol. El famoso y utópico efecto mariposa, pero es lo único que nos queda. Pensar y participar desde donde podemos.

Por otro lado no importan tanto las doctrinas, importan las personas y es ahí donde se percibe la mas patética de nuestras lacras. La verdadera condena…

Y para finalizar compartir con Uds las palabras de alguien a quien estoy leyendo en los últimos días el ruso (no G.) sino Don Dostoievski (socialista el, castigado por el régimen comunista en Siberia tambien)
